Asus launches two e-readers this year

It seems like that Asus(2357)  is well-prepared for the expansion of e-book market. At least , we can be assured that Asus is going to launch more than two kinds of e-book readers.

After the 6-inch colorful e-book reader DR-570, 5.7-inch DR-750 and 9-inch DR-950 are estimated to be put on stage recently. Grey-scale DR-950 is designed to be an entrance model, estimate market analysts.  Chances are DR-950 will be put on sale earlier than DR-570 with a competitive price.

Accoring to sources concerning Asus, the common features of the series of e-book readers are: in-built 4GB memories, SD slot for content expansion, built-in voice receptor, text-to-speech, translation of 26 kinds of languages, handwriting recognition system, Wi-Fi, 3G, and optional WiMAX service.

Asus might use e-paper from Sipix or e-ink touch screen on its DR-950 different from OLED on DR-570.

It is equipped with a 16 grey-scale  display, but  color images are not available on DR-950. Virtual keyboard really scores and it can play files like

PDF, TXT,MP3, ePub, html, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP.

DR-950, set to be an entrance model, will be cheaper than another colorful e-reader DR-570 and Kindle DX at $489.
